Curriculum

WCMAAC offers two Advanced Diploma Programs, two Diploma Programs, one Certificate Program, as well as individual subjects.  All programs are non-vocational.

 

Advanced Diploma Programs:

 1. TCM and Acupuncturist Advanced Diploma Program

Duration: 4 Years or 12 Semesters, each semester is 12 weeks

Cost: CAD 4,000 per semester

 

​2. Acupuncturist Advanced Diploma Program

Duration: 4 Years or 12 Semesters, each semester is 12 weeks

Cost: CAD 4,000 per semester

Diploma Programs:

1. Diploma Program in Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Orthopaedics, Tuina

Duration: 3 Years or 9 Semesters, each semester is 12 weeks

Cost: CAD 4,000 per semester

 

​2. Diploma Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Duration: 3 Years or 9 Semesters, each semester is 12 weeks

Cost: CAD 4,000 per semester ​​

Acupuncture Certificate Program:

This program is for people who wants to learn 300 hours or more of Acupuncture techniques. 

All Programs Requirements:

  • Eighteen years of age or over.

  • Secondary school graduated or equivalent.

  • English proficiency is required; however students can complete their English training during their program study and obtain English proficiency before graduation.

  • An interest in traditional Chinese medicine and an openness to become a professional and qualified traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.

We offer comprehensive programs from the perspective of the Chinese cultural traditions, teaching all aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine including Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Herbology, Tuina, Qigong, Taijiquan, TCM Osteopathy, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Ethics, Treatment of Acute Conditions, Lifestyle and Diet tips, and western medical assessment.

All of our course content and exam qualifications are designed in accordance with the Entry-Level Occupational Competencies for the Practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Canada.

 

1. Our programs adopt the credit system. Students who complete the required credits will not be bound by the school year. Each credit equals 15 teaching hours. Teaching hours include class and clinic study hours. Students who have completed 3,000 teaching hours and passed the exams will be offered the Advance Diploma of Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists, a 4-year program (12 Semesters).
 
2. 3-years (9-semesters) Acupuncturists, TCM Practitioners, Physiotherapists or Masters. Diploma for Undergraduate Diploma will be awarded when students pass the exam after completing 2000 teaching hours. Graduates may apply for the Advance Diploma for both Chinese and Western Acupuncture Physicians for an additional three semesters of related subjects.
 
3. 2-years (6-semesters) General Certificate. This Certificate requires completion of 1400 teaching hours. Graduates will be required to take two semesters of related subjects and pass the exam. 
 
4. Students may choose to study a single  subject, from the various subjects of the relevant training courses. Students who pass the exam will be issued a transcript of the section. .
 
5. Each school semester is 3 months, each semester 12 weeks, the thirteenth week is exam and/or make-up lessons if necessary.
 
6. Each semester's tuition $4000 . 

(All figures are in “teaching hours”. Figures for “Our Programs” are core requirements; electives have been excluded from the above calculations).

Minimum Attendance Requirement

The student must attend at least 70% of all lectures. If attendance for any given course is less than 70%, the student will be disqualified from the final exam and therefore considered to have failed the course.

Examinations and Credits (Teaching Hours)

Credits (teaching hours) are only counted towards the graduation requirement if the student passes the final exam at the end of the semester. To pass a course, the student must obtain a minimum of 60 in the final exam.

The student is allowed to retake a final exam the mark is between 50 to 59. If the mark is below 50, the student must retake the course if the course is mandatory.
