About WFAS
The World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), internationally recognized as a foremost academic organization for traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, is an international nongovernmental organization headquartered in Beijing, China with official relations with the World Health Organization. Its creation was jointly proposed by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the State Science and Technology Commission of the People’s Republic of China in 1984 and approved by the State Council in 1987. The founding of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies 30 years ago is a testimony both of the world’s recognition of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture and the sophistication of the acupuncture and its associated medicinal practices.
